Care and Cleaning
Fine Linens
Luxe Home Company duvet covers and sheets are woven using the finest 100% Egyptian cotton. The collections feature crisp percale and sateen. Our matelassŽ and linens, as with most products made with natural fibers, have a tendency to shrink. The products have been made a little larger than the published sizes. Wash items before use for proper fit.
Machine wash in a front-loading machine using warm water, color, and fragrance-free detergent. Use enzyme reactive stain removers only. Do not use chlorine bleach or detergents with lighteners. Never pour detergent or soap directly onto your textiles. Either pour the detergent in when the tub is full or dilute the detergent. Do not use fabric softeners. These only coat the fibers and make them ÒappearÓ to be soft. One cup of white vinegar in the rinse water removes all traces of soap and leaves fabrics smelling fresh. The ideal way to dry linens is to air dry. A clothesline or rod is perfect for air-drying, but you can also use a railing or shower rod. If you prefer to use a dryer, tumble dry on low for only a few minutes, and do not dry completely. During the last few minutes of a dryer cycle, the fabric overheats and dries out, making it brittle and lifeless over time. Always remove linens from the dryer while still damp, and then iron. Use a spray bottle with water instead of the ironÕs steam feature for the best results. Due to the chemical process, dry cleaning and bleaching are not recommended for fine linens.
Helpful Hints for Wrinkling
Do not roll your linens and sheets into a ball when removing them from your bed.
During the wash cycle, bed sheets can also become twisted. Sheets already bunched up will not get as clean as those sheets in a free state.
The knotted sheets’ fibers are more prone to strain during the washing and drying process.
Now that you are ready to wash your luxury linens, it is important to follow these steps to make sure you minimize wrinkles:
Insert just one set of sheets in the washing machine at a time.
Avoid using harsh detergents such as Tide and Cheer. Use a mild detergent such as Dreft, Ivory, or Le Blanc linen wash.
Many popular detergents have what manufacturers label as brighteners, which are typically bleach derivatives.
Refrain from using bleach, as it can damage cotton fibers and prematurely fade colored linens.
And if your bedding has developed a musty order, consider adding a _ cup of baking soda to your next wash cycle. The baking soda will make your sheets cleaner, fresher and brighter.
