Wool carpets have outstanding easycare properties. Flame resistance, stain resistance and resiliency are characteristics inherent of wool and are not achievable by chemical treatments. The high moisture content of wool fibers, along with its protein constituents, provide wool carpets with excellent natural flame resistance. Wool fibers do not support combustion- it is difficult to ignite and is self-extinguishable. The surface of a wool fiber is covered by a thin protective membrane which allows wool the ability to shed water. This membrane prevents water from readily penetrating the individual wool fibers.
Rayon is a manufactured regenerated cellulose fiber which takes to dyes very easily. Sometimes called faux silk the high sheen quality of rayon can be used to highlight select areas in rugs.
Linen is a natural fiber, made from the flax plant. It has long staple and is extremely strong. Linen has been used in traditional carpets and is usually blended with wool. Though it is a hard fiber, it cannot hold heavy traffic and it can be difficult to clean.
Weaving a hand knotted rug is an art form that has not changed since ancient times. A skilled artisan individually ties every single knot to create intricate patterns and designs. A typical hand knotted 8×11 rug can take 6 months to a year or more for an artisan to make. Starting on a loom, strands of thread are stretched from the top to the bottom of the loom. These threads are the foundation to the rug. The weaver then ties each knot of the rug to these threads with the appropriate color of wool to create the pattern that will ultimately adorn your floor for many years to come. Hand knotted wool rugs are durable, textural and beautiful.
Synthetic fiber rugs are dirt and stain resistant and will look wonderful long-term simply by vacuuming regularly without the use of the beater bar. Use only cold water when cleaning wool to avoid shrinkage. If spills occur, blot immediately with a dry cotton cloth, blot again with mild soap and cold water, and again to dry. Avoid excessive heat or agitation. Do not use oxygen cleaners on your synthetic fiber rug. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading. For best results periodic professional cleaning is recommended.
Luxcelle rugs are constructed of wood cellulose fibers, which absorb moisture easily, therefore cleaning is not advised.
If cleaning should become necessary, dry cleaning is preferable. However, always check with the dry cleaner since some harsh chemicals may cause discoloration to the fibers.
Do not spot clean with water as cellulose fibers will turn yellow or discolor when wet and may stain after cleaning.
Lighter colors are more susceptible to staining and large, solid areas will show staining more easily.
Avoid placing Luxcelle rugs in high-traffic areas to minimize the need for cleaning
